The Cape Henry Collegiate History Department seeks an experienced, student centered Middle School History teacher to join our team full time beginning in August 2017. Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in History (or a related field) as well as strong experience teaching History in a middle school setting. Those candidates with a Master’s degree will be given priority consideration.
Qualified candidates should possess a passion for working with middle school students as well as strong experience teaching reading, writing, and critical thinking skills through the history curriculum. In addition, candidates must demonstrate a positive attitude, excellent listening and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with others, and a willingness to extend themselves beyond the classroom to support student success.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Teaching Middle School History with a focus on Civics and Ancient Civilizations
- Serving as a student advisor and member of a grade level advisory team
- Chaperoning local and global field experiences
