Under general supervision, the Sr. Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides experienced anesthetic services and airway management for the UC San Diego Health System (Hillcrest and Thornton Hospital in La Jolla). The workweek consists of 7 consecutive days, from 12:00 A.M. Sunday to 11:59 P.M. the following Saturday. This position requires on-call availability and off-shift assignments. The services are performed under the general direction of the medical faculty. The Sr. CRNA provides anesthesia services to patients of all ages. The Senior CRNA is required to work on the more difficult cases; as recognized by the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
Must possess a valid California Registered Nurse license in accordance with and accessible on the California Board of Registered Nursing website.
Must possess license and current certification as a Nurse Anesthetist, in accordance with the AANA.
Current BART and/or BLS/CPR certification.
Must have two or more years of recent CRNA experience.
Experienced in providing anesthesia services and airway management according to level of expertise.
Experienced providing anesthesia patient care to all ages.
Experienced with pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation, anesthetic induction maintenance and emergence.
Experienced with post-anesthetic care as a member of the hospital team.
Expertise rendering anesthesia/anesthesia related care to facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic or surgical procedures in a trauma setting.
Conditions of employment include successful completion of the pre-screening physical and background check.
Current TB screening – negative reading, and current Mask fit test.
Course requirements include successful completion of HIPPA for Healthcare Professionals, Injury and Illness Prevention Program and Health System HR Orientation.
