OHIO University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Cost Estimator & Project Evaluator.
Established in 1804, OHIO University is the oldest public institution of higher learning in the state of Ohio and the first in the Northwest Territory. Located in the scenic Appalachian foothills, its classic residential campus in Athens, Ohio, is one of the most attractive in the nation.
Cost Estimator and Project Evaluator for the office of Architecture, Design and Construction. Called upon to assess project requests for the full impact of code requirements to develop the scope and estimate the cost to construct a project to satisfy the client's requirements. Informs University planning efforts on necessary project elements and costs.
Duties include the following:
1. Evaluates project requests to determine the total scope required for the project. Determines the relevant building code and regulatory impacts on the project to fully assess all of the work required to complete the project successfully. Develops preliminary cost estimates using analogous, parametric or engineering estimates as appropriate to provide accurate cost figures for planning purposes.
2. Maintains a cost database of work performed at Ohio University and uses this data to inform future estimates on similar work.
3. Serves as a University resource for assessing code impacts for University initiatives like ADA accessibility or facilities acquisition.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or related degree
3-5 years work related experience
**An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering
