Hours: Hours of the day will vary according to physician schedule this position will support, but primarily daytime hours Monday through Friday. Typically between 7:30am- 7:00pm.

Provide direct care to patients under the supervision and delegation of the Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner, or Physician (Provider) within PHCMA. Provide care in partnership with the patient and their family, with the goal of supporting an optimal healing community.
This position will be supporting a psychiatrist/addictionologist along with substance use disorder therapists who treat patients in an outpatient clinic setting. Primary responsibilities include conducting point-of-care urine drug testing and preparing specimens for delivery to outside lab, accessing the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program as a delegate, medication prior authorization, rooming patients and obtaining vital signs, requesting and recording health history, other duties to prepare patient for provider visit as needed and documenting results into the electronic medical record (EMR).
Medical assistant duties and possible job functions:
- Integral part of behavioral health team – help in overall management of patients
- Urine and Oral fluid drug screening services including ordering and collecting specimens – outpatients, patients in the opioid use disorder and intensive outpatient programs
- Checking Prescription monitoring systems – ePDMP
- Call backs for patients on controlled substances
- Prior authorizations for medications
- Medication reconciliation
- Checking Vital signs
- Patient education – approved patient education materials
- Getting samples for Genotyping
