Under the supervision of the Attending Faculty physicians, will provide patient care for outpatients and inpatients on the Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) Service with UC San Diego Health. This individual will rotate with the other allied health professionals in this department to cover the inpatient and outpatient services as assigned and cover both services as staffing levels require. Individual will work closely with the team on both the PTE (Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy) and PH (Pulmonary Hypertension) services and provide clinical support for those patients. Primary focus of patient care will be for PTE patients.
Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the NPI, NPII or NPIII level.
Current California Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner and Furnishing License. National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners.
Must have BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within 6 months of hire date.
Recent pulmonary, critical care and/or cardiac experience.
Proven knowledge of common diagnostic tests, exams, procedures used in adult medicine including purpose, supplies and/or equipment needed, how to perform test, exam and/or procedure accurately, infection control mechanisms and recording in medical record.
Demonstrated excellent assessment skills and ability to make clinically sound decisions in a fast paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interact positively and effectively with professional and nonprofessional staff, patients, study participants, families, and community support groups.
Demonstrated computer experience using Electronic Medical Records, databases, word processing and spreadsheet.
Ability to teach and provide in-services for patients, families and staff. Skill in emergency treatment for safe, efficient patient care.
- Prefer two (2) or more years of recent working NP experience.
Selected candidate may be hired at the NPIII level pending review and approval by the Advanced Practice Council.
Must be able to obtain medical staff privileges.
Biosafety Training completion within 6 months of hire.

Must be willing and able to work a variable schedule depending on clinical operations and needs- occasional evening and/or weekend work is required.
