The department of Information Technology has an outstanding opportunity for a Strategic Technology Initiatives / Project Management / Program Manager. This position will plan for and manage new strategic technology projects, as well as develop internal project management processes and standards, help with documentation, and help define IT strategic priorities for the University. This position will identify technology-related needs for research centers and coordinate IT resources and support for their projects. This position will also be involved in providing campus and online IT training for current and new UW Tacoma students to enhance their technological proficiencies.
Manage IT project plans for the campus, including student retention.
Maintain a current Project Portfolio showing the detail and status on all IT projects at the University.
Provide a central point of contact between IT, the Office of Research, and the principal investigators working in the environment.
Work with principal investigators approved by the Office of Research regarding onboarding IT related technologies and services where necessary.
Advise faculty, staff, and students on best practices for information assurance and security. Develop policies and procedures for the University as needed.
Work closely with the Academic Database Analysts, Web programmers, CMS programmers and other IT internal technical resources to design and implement additional data flows and analytics structures to support reporting and analytics needs across campus.
Develop and deliver student technology training for the campus, including undergraduate and graduate new student orientations, registration sessions, program orientations and freshman core sessions; Manage student technology training by planning and coordinating technology workshops including supervision and hiring of student trainers to teach the workshops; Work collaboratively with other campus units to design and deliver staff technology training by planning, coordinating and conducting one-on-one group sessions, if appropriate.
Research, write and produce clear documentation and other instructional and technical materials for IT; Build and maintain some portion of IT web pages; Create multimedia and online tutorials and design student orientation materials.
Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, information technology, instructional technology, or a related field plus five years' experience in Information Technology.
Working knowledge of statistical analysis packages, and various software supporting data collection and analysis Processes.
Demonstrated working knowledge of the web and social media environments.
Knowledge of cloud-based solutions and data trends and issues; data warehouse architecture and experience with BI reporting tools, including dashboards and the data needs in higher education.
Ability to plan, manage, and administer complex projects and establish effective and cooperative relationships.
Effective intra-organizational management and communication skills to manage relationships with all levels.
Effective demonstrated teaching skills; ability to make compelling presentations; excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent communication and marketing skills.
Project management experience in Post-Secondary Education industry.
