Reporting to the Director of Patient Financial Services; serves as primary resource for reporting using various software tools. Maintains access to UCSD electronic billing system, and performs analysis related to claims errors, clean claim rate, analyzes data and works with ancillary departments to improve claim error rates. Maintains cumulative reports by department, by user, or other factors in order to track improvements. Assists with additional software applications (i.e. EPIC) as needed. Responsible for vendor management, including being the single point of contact, vendor meetings for accountability, and invoice verification. Monitor department business operations workflow, work-queue rules, volumes and ownership, including denial analysis and reporting. Conducts review of payment variances, remit reason code mapping and payor behavior as it relates to expected reimbursement. Participates in departmental initiatives related to process improvement. Works independently and can carry out assigned tasks reliably with only general direction. Competent in systems utilization (Health Logic, OnBase, DSG, MediTract, EPIC, Excel, MS Word, and other applications as appropriate.) Job standards to be performed at the EXPERT level.
BA in Business, or related field.
A minimum of three (3) years experience in hospital billing, coding and denials management.
Project management experience.
Demonstrated ability to retrieve, report and analyze financial data.
Proficient computer skills in Excel, MS Word, Access, etc.
One year of experience in a healthcare setting involving interaction with PFS Department and ancillary departments.
Competent in systems utilization (Health Logic, OnBase, DSG, MediTract, EPIC, Excel, MS Word, and other applications as appropriate).
