The Director, Donor Engagement is responsible for the strategic planning, management and oversight of donor engagement opportunities, ensuring that they are designed and executed thoughtfully to engage Health Sciences donors and volunteers, strengthen relationships and fundraising results, and advance prospect and donor passions for Health Sciences at UC San Diego.
Having wide-ranging experience, administers, oversees, or performs work involved in establishing and maintaining the highest level relationships between the institution and its many alumni and other constituents, including the general public, and various other relevant publics or interest groups, which may include internal, external, domestic and foreign audiences. Constituencies typically include the most influential or powerful institutional publics or special interest groups.
The Director plays a critical role in creating and implementing strategies for the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of volunteers, prospects and donors with the goal of engaging various constituents to get them into the fundraising cycle. In addition, the Director has operational oversight of the design, execution and assessment of donor engagement activities, events and programming.
In collaboration with leadership, the Director outlines comprehensive multi-year plans to build systematic, integrated and strategic programming that strengthens the department's relationship with these groups and deepens their propensity for giving. In addition, the Director provides leadership, direction and expertise in recruiting, training, and motivating volunteers to assist in creating meaningful donor experience opportunities.
To accomplish the goals and objectives of this critical position, the Director will collaborate with Advancement colleagues and leadership to foster a long-term prospect/donor pipeline model that advances and increases private support at UC San Diego. The Director interacts frequently with senior leadership, donors, prominent volunteers and board members.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
