Employees are an integral part of a community that is proud of its heritage and the accomplishments that make MCPHS University a first-class educational institution.Responsibilities:Reporting to the Dean of Undergraduate Nursing, the Nursing Education Specialist (NES) is responsible for applying best practices in prelicensure nursing education to the planning, development, organization, management, implementation and evaluation of all aspects of nursing student progression, remediation and success within the School of Nursing - Boston. Works with the Dean, Assistant Dean, and the Nursing faculty to develop, implement, and evaluate creative programs to foster student success and achieve School of Nursing retention and graduation program outcome goals Orients students to MCPHS University and School of Nursing resources for academic success Uses program data, such as internal and external test scores, to assess learners' knowledge acquisition and critical reasoning abilities, and to identify areas of strength and weakness for individual students and group cohorts Implements, facilitates, and coordinates educational activities and interventions to meet the identified learning needs of students within the School of Nursing Provides leadership and direction in the development and implementation of individualized study plans for nursing program success Coordinates and provides individualized and group instruction in nursing content and test-taking/critical-reasoning strategies Supports students to access and use MCPHS University and School of Nursing resources for academic success Develops, implements, and evaluates creative evidenced-based programs to promote achievement of the MCPHS University first-time NCLEX-RN pass rate outcome benchmark Collects, prepares and presents detailed reports regarding student academic success, progression, remediation, and retention outcomes/activities within the School of Nursing Makes recommendations for student academic success, progression, remediation, and retention process and quality improvement to the Dean of Undergraduate Nursing Serves on School and University committeesAdditional responsibilities may be assigned by the Dean of Undergraduate Nursing.Qualifications:Required: Registered Nurse licensure in good standing in Massachusetts Earned Master's degree in nursing from an accredited (ACEN, CCNE) nursing program required PhD in nursing, EdD, or nursing doctorate (Doctor Nursing Science or Doctor of Nursing Practice) is preferred Minimum of five years, recent, full-time prelicensure nursing education experience, with validated experience in nursing program development, classroom and clinical instruction, and development and implementation of programs to promote prelicensure nursing student success Strong clinical skills Demonstrated excellence in teaching Excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills Ability to represent the profession of nursing to the public and to colleagues in the University in writing and through public speaking Ability to work effectively within a dynamic team and in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment Ability to work effectively with a culturally and academically diverse student populationMCPHS offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits, including a substantial health/dental insurance subsidy, generous holiday/vacation policy, and a significant pension plan contribution.To apply, please visit www.mcphs.edu/careers.
