AFS seeks to hire a full-time twelve-month Director of College Counseling/Director of Studies. As the leader of a two-person college counseling team, the Director oversees the college admissions process for the Upper School and directly advises 40-50 students. As a Director of Studies, the Director oversees the course recommendation, selection and registration process for the Upper School with two other Directors of Studies and the school registrar.
The ideal candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of college guidance experience. Independent school or Quaker school experience is a plus. Excellent writing and communication skills are a must. Applicants should be comfortable speaking in front of large groups, managing an office staff and budgets, and multitasking on a variety of projects. The successful applicant should be friendly, open-hearted, supportive, and a community builder. AFS is a collaborative and creative work environment, and applicants should be comfortable working closely with others.
