Applicantsare sought for a two-year, extendable and full-time postdoctoral position basedin the laboratory of Dr. Feng Qian studying the molecular mechanisms underlyingpolycystic kidney disease (PKD) at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. Theposition will start approximately in July 2017. The laboratory is part of thestate-of-art BaltimorePKD Research and Clinical Core Center, supported by the National Institute ofDiabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and by the University of MarylandSchool of Medicine.
PKDis the most common genetic cause of renal failure. The postdoctoral researcherwill join a group that uses a broad range of methods and approaches toinvestigate PKD at the biochemical, biophysical, cell biological and in vivolevels. The researcher will primarily be involved in a project that is to befunded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health. To goal of thisproject is to investigate the role of the G-protein coupled receptorproteolysis site (GPS) motif of the principal PKD gene product (polycystin)in kidney health and disease. The proposed experiments include work with mousemodels of PKD as well as many molecular analyses. The laboratory is highlycollaborative with many opportunities to contribute to other, related projects.
