The primary purpose of the position is to provide instruction in clinical mental health counseling and other core counseling courses for Master’s degree counseling students. Primary duties and responsibilities include teaching graduate level courses in clinical mental health counseling and core counseling areas. Providing advisement, internship supervision, and service to the department, school, and university committees is also required.
The successful candidate must: (1) articulate and pursue a pertinent research agenda that produces manuscript publications in top-tier journals with high-impact factors in the discipline area, (2) procure extramural funding from foundations, businesses, corporations, and agencies that support the research agenda, and (3) facilitate presentations at well-respected international and national conferences or meetings.
This is a nine month tenure track position.

The Department of Counseling (COUN) at North Carolina A&T State University is housed in the College of Education and is comprised of master's programs in Mental Health Counseling – Clinical, Mental Health Counseling – Rehabilitation, and School Counseling as well as the PhD in Rehabilitation Counseling and Rehabilitation Counselor Education. The Mental Health Counseling-Clinical and the School Counseling program are accredited by the Council on the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Course work in the Department is generally offered in the evenings to accommodate the professional development needs of adult learners. North Carolina A & T State University is classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a doctoral-granting research university (high research activity).

Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from CACREP accredited program or related degree with at least one year teaching experience in a counseling program prior to July 1, 2013, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, with a minimum of four years post-degree experience. LPC in North Carolina (or license eligible). CRC certification (or CRC eligible) is required.
The ideal candidate should also possess a well articulated research agenda that yields scholarly activity such as manuscript publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals in the discipline, procurement of extramural funds, and presentations at well-respected meetings and conferences.
The well qualified applicant will have professional engagement experience including student leadership and experience in social justice and advocacy in clinical mental health counseling.
Experience in clinical mental health counseling, teaching in a CACREP accredited counselor education program, clinical supervision.
