Library Acquisition Specialist to perform bibliographic and price verification in the Connexion Client bibliographic catalog, the Millennium integrated library system, vendor databases and the internet. Places orders through the GOBI online ordering database, receives and distributes materials. Assists with an assortment of collection management operations, including collection support of library materials and processing library donations and gifts. Performs other duties as assigned.
40% - Essential - Searching and Ordering Facilitation:
Performs bibliographic and price verification in the Connexion client bibliographic catalog. Checks items ordered against the library's integrated library system for duplicate copies and verifies price and availability by searching in vendor databases and the Internet. Uses established guidelines to search and select appropriate Library of Congress and contributor copy cataloging records in the Connexion client bibliographic catalog. Uploads or creates appropriate records into the Millennium integrated library system for English language print materials, as well as rush and time-sensitive orders that can be acquired through the vendor system. Places orders in GOBI. Records monthly statistics of all work performed, including special projects.
25% - Essential - Receiving:
Retrieves and loads bibliographic records, orders, items records, and invoices into the Millennium integrated library system using File Transfer Protocol. Checks all processed items for accuracy and routes to designated Cataloging and Circulation personnel. Posts payments and reconciles invoices. Reconciles problems with shipments, charges, and invoice inconsistencies. Records monthly statistics of all work performed.
25% - Essential - Collection and Donations Support:
Follows collection management and access policies for withdrawing and relocating library materials, including books and serials being transferred to the libraries' off-site storage facility and solves routine problems associated with library materials. Assists the Collection Management Team Leader in routine database maintenance and authority control activities. Serves as Lead by guiding the work of students on assigned team tasks. Records monthly statistics of all work performed. Serves as the donations manager's backup. Sorts and boxes donated materials for Betterworld Used Books. Pre-checks gift receipts against existing collection and downloads or creates brief bibliographic records. Creates item records in the Millennium integrated library system. Records monthly statistics of all work performed.
10% - Essential - Compliance, Safety and Training:
Complies with University, State and Federal requirements. Maintains a safe and secure environment. Participates in staff development programs.
A high school diploma and relevant library experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for work experience.
Fundamental Job Knowledge - Fundamental working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations
No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
Bachelor's degree and 1+ year of experience.
Must be able to raise up to 10lbs. and move up to 50lbs.
Standard Hrs: 37.5; Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm; Band: 04 ($ 26,988.00 - $ 30,000)
