The Systems Support Specialist will work with the Systems Support team to provide desktop and application support to users in the Division of Continuing Education. The Support Specialist will configure client computers and applications, and provide first level support to DCE users using Windows and Mac computers, and will address printer connection and configuration issues. The applications to be supported include Microsoft Office for Windows, and Mac, Filemaker Pro, O365 and FirstClass email clients. The Support Specialist will be expected to perform computer hardware and software upgrades such as memory additions, drive replacements and printer installations. They will also help diagnose problems with network shares, backup software, and application connectivity. This position requires some lifting when moving systems for configuration, deployment or storage and walking long distances between sites.
The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) comprises several entities including the Harvard Extension School, the Harvard Summer School, the Harvard Professional Development Programs and the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement. For more than a century, Harvard Extension School has made Harvard faculty and teaching accessible to a diverse community of local, national, and international students. Harvard Extension School enrolls approximately 13,000 students per year in approximately 65 liberal arts and professional fields. More than 650 open enrollment online and classroom courses are offered at affordable prices to our communities across the world. Harvard Summer School offers approximately 300 courses on the Harvard Campus to 6,000 secondary school, college and adult learners and more than 30 international study abroad programs for up to 600 students each summer. The Division also includes the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement with approximately 550 active members and Harvard Professional Development Programs offering about 60 two-day, noncredit courses annually.

A minimum of 2 years' demonstrated experience with desktop and laptop computer support, configuration and maintenance with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. Some experience with network debugging and backup programs is essential. Demonstrable good written and verbal communication skills.
B.S. Degree strongly preferred. Additional experience with OS X and/or Linux is preferred. Experience supporting file sharing and applications in a TCP/IP network setting is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal abilities and organizational skills required. Must have commitment to customer service priorities. A+ Certification a plus or will be required within one year of hire.
