Provide housing counseling services to educate residents of Lake County in money management that allows them to obtain and retain stable permanent housing and reach their potential for financial self-sufficiency. Services include those to prevent or resolve mortgage delinquency, default and foreclosure prevention, mortgage scams and predatory lending, with the primary objective to preserve homeownership. Services include money management/budge counseling, financial literacy, fair housing and predatory lending workshops, rental housing counseling, client advocacy, coordination with mainstream resources, and follow-up services, including administrative responsibilities. Position ensures successful outcomes for program in compliance with HUD, Agency, PI and funding expectations.
Preferred Requirements: BA/BS. Three years of relevant experience. Current or past HUD approved housing counseling certification.
Minimum Requirements: High School Degree. Five years of relevant experience.
Other Requirements: Able to work some weekends and evenings to accommodate participant schedules. Carries agency issued cell phone. Ability to lift, push/pull and/or carry up to 30 pounds material dissemination and workshop set up. Driver’s license and reliable transportation. Agency specified automobile insurance. Program specific background check. Experience in real estate, lending or related area working with multi-cultural population and those experiencing financial difficulties.
