The Financial Aid Assistant provides general operational support for the financial aid program. Responsible for primary coverage of the reception area and provides high quality customer service through wide variety of walk-in, telephone and email inquiry response.
Validates and tracks financial aid application documents in document imaging system, identifying and resolving tracking problems. Processes student loans and cash advances, verifying for accuracy and completeness against regulations. Completes monthly financial aid reconciliation process. Assists with financial clearance process for student registration, working with individual students to resolve billing issues. Assists in quality control error-checking process prior to award releases. Assists with tracking and payment of departmental expenses, reimbursements, PCard payments, and ordering supplies. May perform basic need analysis reviews to determine federal loan eligibility. May assist with updating of departmental website. May provide operational support to all programs operating within Student Financial Services as needed. For some duties may report to Associate Director of Student Financial Services, or Associate Director for the Low Income Protection Plan and Public Interest.

Basic Qualifications: Two or more year of related work experience required. Experience should be in a customer-driven business or work setting.
Additional Qualifications: BA or equivalent experience preferred. Must possess effective communication skills, ability to build rapport with students, coworkers, and other departments, and a positive, patient, and personable customer service manner. Applicants must have demonstrated experience performing detail-oriented processes in a technological environment; data management skills including familiarity with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and web-based technology and proven ability to learn new skills quickly; strong analytical abilities, written and oral communication skills and attention to detail. The successful applicant must enjoy working collaboratively with a team of colleagues to manage a demanding workload. Financial aid background helpful.
