With a heavy emphasis on major gift development, this entrepreneurial fundraiser is responsible for identifying and developing new relationships in the community that have the capacity to make 5 and 6-figure gifts.
Working closely with the Executive Director, the DD will play a key leadership role in cultivating existing major donors to A Step Beyond.
With a strong background in fundraising moves management, the DD will help to maximize the Executive Director’s time investment in the fundraising process. This will be accomplished by coordinating key meetings where the Executive Director involvement is of great benefit, providing strategy, donor briefing, and appropriate collateral material.
The DD will work closely with the leadership team to establish and implement a realistic three-year fundraising strategy, measuring progress and adjusting strategy and activity to successfully meet those goals.
As the lead fundraiser, the DD will provide board reports and would participate in board meetings to discuss fundraising progress.
The DD will have access to part-time administrative support with the goal that more administrative support will be allocated as needed.
While A Step Beyond has an existing corporate and foundation relations giving program, the DD will develop a specific strategy to increase and maximize this support
The DD will work with the Executive Director to equip board members with programs and collateral to support their fundraising efforts.
The DD will evaluate, deploy and manage potential technology fundraising components. This includes web and mobile options that secure and/or enhance online giving, search engine optimization, and fundraising related to social media.
The DD will evaluate the need to implement a donor management database system.
The DD will design and implement a fundraising strategy to support two major outreach events each year. Each having their unique focus; one targets existing and potential donors, while the other is focused on sharing A Step Beyond’s program within the local school community to help identify potential students to participate in the program. Both events garner significant community recognition and provide strong naming opportunity sponsorship possibilities.
The DD will develop monthly sponsorship opportunities to help support the annual campaign.
As the first fundraiser to be hired by A Step Beyond, the successful candidate must have an entrepreneurial spirit that thrives on carving a new fundraising road.
A minimum of 5 years of successful fundraising with deep experience in major gift solicitation.
A proven track record of working with corporations and foundations securing 5 and 6-figure gifts.
A solid reputation of working well with team members and strong references from the community.
A bachelor’s degree.
The ability to work well with a team, as well as independently.
Strong verbal and communication skills.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Possess a valid California Driver’s License and maintain a clean driving record.
