Position: Development Associate - Grant Writer & Research
Status: Contract – 30 hours per week
Location: Holy Family Business Office, Northbrook, IL
Reports to: Development Director
The Grant Writer is responsible for preparing and submitting grant applications to foundations, corporations, and government sources. This is an on-site position, but occasional telecommuting may be available after six months in the job. Duties include:
Write and submit applications tailored to funders’ specific requirements
Assist with the preparation of government grant proposal
Research potential funding sources
Maintain a grant calendar
Research regarding up to date statistics and information for case statements
Monitor and maintain compliance and prepare reports to funders
Write tailored acknowledgement letters
Assist other members of the development department as needed
THIS POSITION REQUIRES PREVIOUS GRANT WRITING EXPERIENCE OF TWO YEARS OR MORE.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
MINIMUM of 2 years of experience in a social services organization which includes significant grant proposal writing. 3+ years preferred.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
Detail-oriented and organized
Able to exercise independent judgment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
Ability to understand budgets as they relate to proposals and grants
Experience with online grant application processes a plus
Available to work occasional Saturday (3 – 4 times per year)
Has a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle on a daily basis
