The Office of Alumni Relations (OAR), in collaboration with the Tufts University Alumni Association, strives to build lifelong relationships with the students and alumni of Tufts University. This is accomplished through extensive programming initiatives both on campus and in cities and regions in the United States and targeted international cities. The Alumni Chapter Programs area manages the volunteers and programmatic efforts of 25 shared interest group chapters, 40 domestic chapters and 25 international chapters. Lifelong education and civic engagement are key programming themes.
The Assistant Director of the Office of Alumni Relations, Regional Programs will facilitate the engagement of a diverse base of alumni, parents of current students and friends outside the Greater Boston area, primarily focused on the Western US, in existing and new regional program activities. S/he will manage a portfolio of 16 - 20 existing domestic and international (Vancouver) regional chapters and will have the primary responsibilities of program management, event planning, marketing facilitation and evaluation. Key events will include, but are not limited to, events featuring faculty and staff including the Provost, President, and Deans. In addition to events occurring in the Assistant Director's regions support is also required for major events in other areas including, both PT Barnum Awards and and campaign events and specialty themed events such as Fur and Feathers, To Your Health, Food for Thought and Authors Series programs.
The Assistant Director is also responsible for volunteer management for his/her chapters including management of steering committees and recruitment and training of alumni. This includes the cultivation of steering committees in new geographic areas with high concentrations of alumni as well as emphasis on the Volunteer Leadership Summit. The Assistant Director will partner with the Regional Programming Committee (RPC) on Regional strategy and volunteer support mechanisms.
Develop and maintain strong competency with the Alumni and Donor Information Management System for volunteer management with the goal of maintaining strong and timely communications and tracking mechanisms for OAR and all other Division departments.
Support regional programs sponsored/co-sponsored by other University departments, such as Admissions, Career Services, University Development, Office of the President, etc. to build strong campus partnerships. Under advisement from the Senior Associate Director, Domestic and International Programs, work with University faculty and administration to choose speakers to represent the University at alumni events.
