The Paraprofessional transports clients and staff and maintains vehicles in good working order. The Paraprofessional is also trained in first aid and CPR. This position when not transporting, will be responsible for assisting with security and client supervision in the unit, serving lunch and transporting clients to other locations as needed. Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains a valid NJ driver's license.
Provides transportation for clients to and from program related activities as specified by supervisor/case manager in a safe and effective manner.
Develops and implements a vehicle maintenance program including repair and preventive maintenance. Maintains the cleanliness of the interior/exterior of vehicles.
Maintains current registration and insurance information on vehicle and ensures that proper information is in the vehicle when it is in use.
Maintains the accessibility of First-Aid and safety equipment in the vehicle and ensures that such equipment is in good working order.
Maintains CPR certification and knowledge of safety procedures.
Practices safe and courteous driving habits as demonstrated by the completion of a defensive driving course.
Reports all accidents immediately to Unit Director/Supervisor. Demonstrates knowledge of procedures to be followed in the event of an accident.
Demonstrates skills in conflict resolution technique.
Participates in unit staff meetings.
Participates/attends in weekly supervision to review staff meeting agenda and minutes as well as discuss current issues or concerns
Compliance with random drug testing.
Additional coverage at other units as needed.
Assists with monitoring the building throughout the day to ensure safety of clients and staff, as well as engaging clients to remain in group.
Remains on site unless otherwise specified from supervisor/case manager. Minimal Qualifications: Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree OR Associate degree and two years' experience of appropriate provision of services to youth OR a high school diploma and five years' experience of appropriate provision of services to youth. Driving record meets insurance standards.
