The University of Wisconsin – La Crosse seeks applications for the full-time position of Head Women’s Track & Field Coach /Exercise and Sport Science (ESS) Associate Lecturer.
The individual will be a valued full-time member of the Athletics and Exercise and Sport Science department staffs and will contribute to the mission of UWL’s nationally recognized Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, which is “Building Champions. In Sport. In School. In Life.” The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III ideal and the important role that intercollegiate athletics can play in higher education. Head Women’s Track & Field Coach (65%, 9-month contract): The position of Head Women’s Track & Field Coach in the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (“the Department”) reports directly to UWL’s Director of Athletics. The coach will manage the daily operations of a Division III intercollegiate track & field program competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (“WIAC”), with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the supervision of the assistant coaching staff and the planning, recruiting, coaching, developing, implementing, and administering of the women’s track & field program (“UWL Women’s Track & Field”) to meet University and Department objectives. The coach must conduct themselves in such a way as to enhance respect for UWL, the Department, UWL Women’s Track & Field and UWL student-athletes.
Exercise and Sport Science Associate Lecturer (35%, 9-month contract): The Department of Exercise and Sport Science is seeking an instructional academic staff member to teach in one of the following areas: Physical Activities, Coaching, Exercise Science or Sport Administration beginning August 28, 2017. The individual must have expertise to teach courses in the area of lifetime activities and coaching. - Earned Master’s degree by the start date of the position.
- Substantial head track & field coaching experience at the high school level or above OR substantial assistant track & field coaching at the intercollegiate or professional levels.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Earned Master’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Sport Management, Physical Education, Kinesiology or closely related field by the start date of the position.
- Previous teaching experience at the secondary school and/or collegiate level in physical education, exercise science or health.
