California State University, Fullerton is seeking an Associate Vice President for Government and Community Relations. The Associate Vice President for Government and Community Relations should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement, provides collaborative leadership in the establishment and maintaining strategic relationships with elected officials, government agencies, and nonprofit/community/business organizations to advance the University's educational mission and its role as an intellectual and cultural center for our region. Leads broad-based advocacy at the local, regional, state, and federal level to establish partnerships, establish and grow funding streams, and demonstrate the University's integral role for the region. Communicates and collaborates with campus colleagues to identify funding needs and partnership opportunities that support faculty-student collaborative research to enhance degree completion initiatives. Hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and provides professional development opportunities to assigned staff to ensure effective implementation of departmental strategies and meet established goals. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field. Ten years of progressively responsible experience in government and community relations. Evidence of the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse internal and external constituencies. Ability to understand and advance the Universitys brand strategy. Superior written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and an array of administrative computing systems on a Windows platform.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Special Working Conditions:
The scope of responsibilities for this position includes the making or participating in the making of decisions that may have a material financial benefit on the incumbent. Therefore, you will be required to file an initial Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interests within thirty (30) days from date of hire and on an annual basis; and complete the CSU sponsored ethics on-line training within thirty (30) days of appointment, and at least once during each consecutive period of two calendar years following the appointment.
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
This position requires travel to and from meetings.
