The Blake School seeks to hire a dynamic and experienced Associate Director of College Counseling. The Associate Director will provide comprehensive, customized college counseling services to Blake students; create and deliver educational programs to students and families; and represent Blake at regional and national professional events. Successful candidates will demonstrate deep knowledge of the college admission and college counseling process, a tangible commitment to intercultural competence, and outstanding communication skills. Experience with post-secondary financial aid and scholarships is highly desirable, as is proficiency in a language other than English. The Associate Director reports to the Director of College Counseling. Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes a community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.
The search committee will begin reviewing applications on March 22, 2017. Blake will typically cover the travel and lodging costs for finalist candidates visiting from out of town.
Depending on the needs and interests of the school and the candidate, the start date of this position is flexible: early August 2017 - early January 2018.
Counseling approximately 50% of the seniors and their families beginning in the spring of the junior year and continuing throughout the senior year.
Supporting each student’s search through individual student and parent appointments, writing personalized recommendations and advocacy with college admissions offices.
Planning and presenting school day, evening, and weekend programs for students and families.
Supporting the work of the College Counseling office, including data analysis, Naviance management, and the publication of monthly newsletters.
Representing Blake at professional conferences and colleges visits.
Other duties as assigned, including serving as an advisor and participating in faculty meetings and on committees.
