The college is pleased to announce an opening for a Senior Accountant. This is a full-time, year round, regular appointment, reporting to the Controller. The Senior Accountant is a key member of the Controller's Office providing support to the Finance Team including the VP of Finance and Administration Office, Development, Investment Office and Provost Office. The Senior Accountant will assist with the preparation and audit of annual financial statements; monitor, process and reconcile financial information; and participate in on-going process improvement.
Prepare audit material and work closely with outside independent auditors
Address and resolve complex issues including implementation of new accounting pronouncements, accounting for investments, planned gifts, federal grants and budget and financial planning
Assist with the review and implementation of improvements to financial processes and operational efficiency initiatives and the assessment of software packages and reporting tools
Prepare and analyze reports using PeopleSoft including GAAP financial statements, supporting footnotes, internal financial management documents, and external surveys
Reconcile investment and bank reports, allocate gains and losses, and purchase and sell shares
Review accounts payable transactions including purchasing card activity, including proper coding for tax reporting
Manage the accounting for fixed asset including construction activity
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or a related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred
Minimum of five years' experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience using Oracle PeopleSoft and related reporting tools or similar database is highly desirable
Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written presentation skills
Demonstrated knowledge of non-profit accounting, taxes and reporting is desirable
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting for investments and planned giving is desirable
Proficient in advanced levels of Microsoft Excel and Word
Must be well organized with the ability to multi-task and work independently as well as part of a team
