The Systems Engineer will assist in the implementation, management and configuration of a Linux/Unix infrastructure in an on premise and cloud data center. The server infrastructure is a critical resource for the college; the Systems Engineer ensures that the performance and availability of the systems infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards. The position will require an independently minded individual to apply his/her skills into providing a truly world class environment for HBS's constituents.
Implement and support of scalable system designs, solutions, and policies
Assist systems and network staff in training/deployment of new initiatives.
Must be able to manage demands with frequent changes or delays and to work in a team environment.
Collaborate with HBS departments to develop new solutions for cross platform web applications.
Scripting and administration app development as necessary
Assure consistency with the day-to-day support of the server infrastructure.
Maintain vendor relationships for server hardware and perform upgrades and design changes as required.
Configure/Maintain Apache web servers for Tomcat/WebLogic App environment
Configure/Integrate Access Management Systems for application security
Configure/patch/install RedHat server infrastructure
Troubleshoot and resolve complex server issues.
Monitor call-tracking system: Investigate and resolve trouble tickets
Participate in night and weekend on-call pager rotation
Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

In Depth knowledge of RedHat Linux 5.x/6.x/7.x
Working knowledge of VMWare and Cisco UCS hardware
F5 BigIP – LTM/GTM
Core UNIX/Linux Server Operations
Apache and Tomcat Web/App Services
AWS - Amazon Web Services experience
Deployment/Configuration Management Tools – (Ansible a plus)
Familiarity with Access Management Systems (OpenAM, Oracle Access Manger)
Scripting languages such as, PERL, AWK, Shell, etc.
Demonstrated ability with test methodologies and environments
Demonstrated ability with project methodologies
Experience working with end users (technical and non-technical) in defining requirements. Ability to communicate with diverse customer communities
Strong task and time management experience and has demonstrated the ability to determine and deploy resources to achieve goals on time and in the most efficient and cost-effective way
Ability to excel with minimal direct supervision
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
