The Library Assistant II, Circulation, Fowler School of Law position is a non-exempt, part-time, staff level position, reporting to the Circulation Librarian in the Darling Law Library.
This position is scheduled to work two (2) days: Friday, 4:00 pm – 10:00pm and Monday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.
The part-time Library Assistant II, Circulation Desk (LAII) position, requires a strong commitment to service and helps to ensure a consistent high level of service to library users by participating in the hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student employees; working with other Law School and University departments on issues relating to library access, security, and facilities; helping to maintain the Circulation module of the Integrated Library System (ILS); and assisting with developing and administering Circulation policies.
The incumbent carries out and assists with managing the Circulation Desk for the law library and will be responsible for closing the library; assisting library users; supervising student employees; assisting to develop and enforcing Circulation policies and procedures. The position uses and assists in the administration of the circulation module of the ILS and communicates with Law Library, Law School, and University departments regarding library access, security, facilities, and student employment.
The LAII position maintains the reserve collection; responds to faculty requests; including, locating and delivering library materials and maintaining faculty course reserves and sample exams; fills ILL requests, both borrowing and lending; keeps ILL statistics; communicates with patrons and other libraries regarding the status of ILL requests. Assists patrons with locating resources using the online public access catalog, with library equipment including photocopiers and microform machines. The position collaborates with other library staff to maintain an environment conducive to study and research for our primary patrons. Will perform other duties as assigned.
