Building Coordinator, Sciences Library
Brown University Library invites applications for the position of Building Coordinator, Sciences Library. We are seeking an innovative, energetic, and team-oriented candidate who is customer focused and possesses experience in building management. The position is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day building operations of the Sciences Library and its physical plant (100,000 square feet of offices, library spaces and public areas on 15 floors). As the primary building liaison, the incumbent is expected to partner with multiple University departments, including: Facilities Management, Public Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Brown Card Office, Dining Services, SEAS, Science Center, Writing Center, DOC Learning Commons, FirstGen Center, Instructional Technology Group (CIS), Language Resource Center (CIS), Sheridan Center, Computer Science, Robotics, RI Innovative Policy Lab (RIIPL) and Brown University Social Science Research Lab (BUSSEL). This is a part-time position working 19.25 hours per week.
The position coordinates scheduling with a private security service to insure there is security coverage during all building open hours. Reporting to the Libraryâ??s Head of Facilities and Building Safety and working in consultation with the University Librarian when necessary, the Building Coordinator works with both library and non-library building partners to ensure maximum user satisfaction with the facility fostering learning and academic achievement. The Building Coordinator contributes to the physical, environmental, security conditions of individual departments within the Sciences Library by continually inspecting and analyzing building conditions and requesting and coordinating service responses.
- Bachelorâ??s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three or more years of related experience
- Demonstrated building management and customer service experience
- Ability to recognize and adequately describe maintenance issues.
- Security programming experience preferred
- Planning and organizational skills
- Current technical skills (word processing, spreadsheet skills, database skills)
- Highly effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with wide range of co-workers
- Ability to think creatively
Ability to initiate connections, work collaboratively with a diversity of partners, and sustain good relationships
