The University of Kentucky is seeking a Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) to manage the strategic procurement of goods and services for University operations. The CPO reports to the Executive Director for Risk Management and Administrative Services and works with key stakeholders to develop, maintain and communicate overall procurement strategies, policies and procedures to ensure alignment with the needs and mission of the University. The CPO develops and implements strategic sourcing initiatives to provide value, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs.
The Chief Procurement Officer's essential functions and responsibilities will be developing and implementing the Purchasing Division's mission and guiding principles. Leading and directing all procurement related activities for the acquisition of goods and services across the enterprise. Supervising procurement related areas including Central Purchasing, UK HealthCare Purchasing, and Capitol Construction Purchasing. Building and maintaining a strong procurement team, which succeeds in providing outstanding customer service and value. Additionally, the Chief Procurement Officer will direct procurement related activities in accordance with University policy, federal, state and local laws and regulations. Incorporating systems of internal controls to mitigate potential risk to the University while maintaining operational efficiencies. As well as managing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and developing strong two-way communication that focuses on customer service.
