The desired candidate will bring an advance technical understanding of maritime/land use coupled with a good understanding of federal, state and local regulatory requirements related to land use, development, and maritime operations, including waterway maintenance. Knowledge of federal, state, regional and local grant processes and ability to address typical grant issues is required. The alliance is interested in candidates who have proven, effective communication skills, both written and verbal including application of these skills in communicating with elected officials, government agency staff, business customers and in public forums; must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be capable of establishing positive relations based on trust, accessibility and accountability that lead to collegial working relationships with public entities, public and private organizations state and local government municipalities, community organizations, Port staff and Port customers. Successful candidates will be proficient computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications, Computer Aided Design and Geographic Information Systems, SQL database software and knowledge of digital data management and maintenance practices. The ability to effectively manage staff, learn and apply new skills in growing their management abilities; coordinate, manage, and lead multi-disciplinary teams to evaluate concepts and alternatives;
and the ability to function smoothly in a collaborative, team oriented environment are key characteristics for success in this role.
The alliance seeks a planning professional who has the ability to work in real-time with Operations and Commercial teams to facilitate cargo movement and analyze key infrastructure improvements, both inside and outside the terminal facility, necessary to maximize throughput. The successful candidate will be able to think conceptually, organize and interpret macro data, observe and evaluate trends, develop logical conclusions and prepare comprehensive reports. It is critical that the candidate have the ability to utilize a systematic and integrated approach to thinking, present ideas and information in visual formats and establish comprehensive land use and investment plans and lead a phased approach in execution. The ability to see big picture and lead diverse groups to successful implementation, to translate complex technical information to all levels of internal and external stakeholders while managing multiple complex projects and meeting project objectives and deadlines is required. In addition, the alliance seeks candidates who can balance competing interests and facilitate solutions with the ability to move projects forward with little or no supervision.
