As a key member of the executive team, the Chief Care Officer’s primary role is to inspire and lead the clinical staff to ensure access and excellence in patient care and services for the growing health center.
ChapCare will benefit from a talented, forward thinking and innovative Chief Care Officer (CCO) who is able to provide strong operating direction and leadership to support ChapCare’s ambitious strategic plan of sustainable growth. In partnership with the CEO and Executive Team, the CCO will strengthen all operations functions, expand revenue enhancement activities and refine clinical processes and functions as needed.
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Care Officer (CCO) is responsible for:
Providing leadership and oversight to the healthcare system’s medical and health service programs including supervision of management and clinical staff.
Providing direct patient care to an ethnically and socially diverse patient base.
Participating as a member of the senior management team to formulate and implement policies and plans to meet ChapCare’s short- and long-term strategic objectives.
Duties and responsibilities of the position include:
Ensuring timely access to high quality medical and health care for ChapCare patients through clinical systems improvements, recruitment and retention of providers, supervision of site Associate Medical Leads, and oversight of the quality improvement initiatives.
Providing reports to Board of Directors regarding clinical activities. In addition, the CCO provides clinical expertise and leadership in the design and implementation of new projects and innovations at the Health Center.
Working with the Director of Clinical Services and the Director of Care Support, oversees and is responsible for all ChapCare clinical and health service activities.
Establishing reviews and maintaining medical policies and standards, which shall be reviewed at least annually.
Assuring the quality of all patient care services provided to all patients in any community clinic operated by ChapCare directly or through a subcontract.
Reviewing and approving all medical protocols used by the clinic.
Establishing and implementing a system of professional peer review, pursuant to written procedures.
Reviewing credentials and delineating clinical privileges for the physicians, dentists and other licensed medical professionals providing services in the clinic
Interviewing and participating in hiring all licensed clinical personnel and participating in annual performance review
Knowledge and Experience
Active California medical license, preferably in Family Practice, in good standing with the Medical Quality Control Board of the State of California and Board eligible.
Be a member in good standing of local hospital medical staff.
Working knowledge of state-of-the-art medical scientific and treatment methods in area of specialty.
Understanding of current medical, educational and psychosocial intervention procedures.
Experience working with multi-site locations and very diverse populations.
Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheet programs.
