We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a Pediatric Critical Care position for the Goryeb Children's Hospital in Morristown, NJ. The hours for this position are:12, 12-hour shifts per month, in-house, including 7 night shifts. Candidate will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Pediatric Intensivist. These responsibilities include:
- Admission and stabilization of pediatric critically ill patients
- Rounding in the pediatric ICU with the medical team
- Writes admissions and progress notes
- Performance of basic invasive emergency procedures including airway control, establishment of IV access, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Participation in selected high-risk/high-acuity pediatric transports
- Participation in the Early Warning/Rapid Response System
- Help with stabilization of critically ill children in the Emergency Department and pediatric floor
- Support the education of medical students and residents by doing basic bedside teaching
Must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of New Jersey, have PALS Certification (or completion prior to starting role) and have completion of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (“Pediatric Fundamental Critical Care Support” desirable). The Nurse Practitioner must have completed a pediatric acute care program obtaining the title of Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (ACPNP). The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatric critical care.
