Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Business Specialist for the School of Engineering (SOE) Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF). Reports to the Assistant Dean for Access Programs the Business Specialist is responsible for the fiscal operations of the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF), and Undergraduate Education at the School of Engineering including a variety of business services such as budget, accounting, grant administration, and finance.Provides overall administrative management and coordination of purchasing, personnel, tutoring and academic support, and policy interpretation within the unit.Analyzes and reviews financial data, prepares financial statements and reports for both internal and external purposes, and resolves a diverse range of problems consistent with a comprehensive understanding of accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable regulations, and university policies and procedures.Interprets, communicates, and implements policies and practices to meet the needs of a diverse client population.Responsible for day to day financial management of assigned sponsored awards – determining whether expenses are allowable and allocable, determination of appropriate expenditure levels to prevent cost overruns and providing projections and analyses as needed.Oversees and approves all procurement expenditures.Works closely with University and State offices to maintain accurate financial and award records.Analyzes and reconciles award data to University and departmental systems.Prepares financial documents and EOF grant required documentation within deadlines established.Responsible for preparing the required analyses, schedules, forms and other documentation for the EOF grant award to meet deadlines in accordance with state policies, procedures and university guidelines.Monitors any outstanding items/issues on closed accounts and takes required action to resolve.Responsible for supporting Undergraduate Education in all financial aspects of programs and preparations including budget preparation, purchasing, payroll and more.Stays abreast of changes in EOF state grant, contracts and federal, state and Rutgers policies and procedures.Designs and implements databases, spreadsheets, macros, etc. to monitor control and report revenue and expenditures of departmental funds.Attends annual professional development courses related to business and accounting.

Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
Certified Public Accountant License.
Five years of experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:The ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks in an environment of constant interruptions.
Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office (Excel & Word).
