Responsibilities: The successful candidate will develop and maintain a rigorous and productive research program with an emphasis on obtaining extramural funding in the cognitive and computational neurosciences.
The successful candidate will join the newly established Brain Institute, which is housed within the Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences (Brain.Chapman.edu).
The teaching load for this position is two undergraduate courses per semester.
In addition to graduate and postdoctoral students, candidates will advise undergraduate students and supervise student research projects.
Tenure track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda for future tenure consideration and are evaluated on their research/scholarly activity, teaching, and service.
Ph.D. from an accredited program in Computational Neuroscience, Cognitive Neuroscience, or a related field; evidence of excellence in research and teaching; competence in quantitative methods of research and experimental design. Specific area of disciplinary expertise should be applicable to conducting research in the cognitive and brain sciences.
Specific area of disciplinary expertise should be related to higher brain functions: consciousness, decision-making, authorship and volition, with an eye to clinical applications and health psychology and a strong background in computational approaches demonstrating both technical savvy and a cohesive research program. Successful candidate should possess skills in mathematical and statistical modeling and simulations of the living human brain, state-of-the-art machine/deep-learning using large neuroimaging data sets (e.g., MEG, dense-array EEG, fMRI, or intracranial recordings), computer programming, and on-line/real-time analysis of neural signals.
