The Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM) is committed to training and inspiring the next generation of health care leaders. We work on pressing problems, from making the delivery of care safer and more efficient, to expanding health insurance coverage and eliminating disparities, to designing and improving the performance of entire health systems.
The Research Data Analyst will work with two faculty members on a variety of empirical projects related to health insurance coverage and health care reform. The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously, helping to develop research designs and analytical plans as well as implementing empirical strategies.
Data work will include: - Compiling and cleaning of data sources - Assessing of data quality - Analysis and validation of empirical results - Routine data maintenance - Managing databases, providing technical oversight, and supporting the faculty members in their research initiatives -Other duties as assigned
The position may include coordination of project logistics, participating in working groups, fulfilling reporting requirements, and managing timelines. In addition, the incumbent may have the opportunity to be involved with other activities, including grant writing, manuscript preparation, and dissemination of results.

3+ years of related experience with 1+ years of experience in data analysis using statistical software such as R, STATA or SAS; a combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a health or social science discipline, including quantitative and statistical coursework highly desired. Master's degree optional. - Written and verbal communication skills. - Strong quantitative analytic skills, knowledge of advanced statistical techniques (such as instrumental variables estimation), and experience programming in STATA. - Knowledge of standard research methods and statistical techniques, including multivariate regression. - Experience in conducting statistical analyses using very large databases, such as insurance claims. - Interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively. - Strong command of Microsoft Office software; proficiency with PubMed, Lexis-Nexis.
