Provide comprehensive financial management of an annual budget approximating $5M for the Office of Engagement Initiatives (Engaged Cornell), under the auspices of the Office of the Vice Provost. Provide specialized funds management, planning and budgeting, analysis and reporting, financial accounting, compliance and stewardship of resources. Possess strong technical skills in finance and database systems to effectively collect and track data to create reports and projections for senior management. Develop complex financial analyses and forecasts in support of short- and long-range unit initiatives. Apply expertise in interpreting and applying University policies, procedures and practices to address complex matters to meet strategic and operational objectives. Ensure that internal controls are developed, monitored, and maintained. Participate in and coordinate various aspects of the annual budget process.
Work with the Office of Engagement Initiatives (OEI) to continuously improve grant management and data collection systems to meet the needs of grantees and OEI staff. Oversee the grants process from application design to fund disbursement and the final reporting/reconciliation of funds. Act as primary contact and local expert for faculty, staff, students and departments on grant-related financial matters. This position will be based in Kennedy Hall.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or information systems with a finance or data focus; 3-5 years of experience in financial planning and budget development, analysis and reporting, financial management, and program coordination; or equivalent combination of education and applicable professional work experience in accounting, finance, business, or research administration. Demonstrated experience using reasoning skills and sound judgment in the identification and investigation of complexities, trends and variances. Ability to independently plan, organize, and prioritize responsibilities to meet competing deadlines while working under pressure. Highly developed accounting, analytical and reporting skills, which includes demonstrated experience creating spreadsheets, spreadsheet applications, dashboards, and databases (Excel, Access, Qualtrics, Salesforce), as well as complex data applications for budgets, finances, and human resources (KFS, OBIEE, or similar systems). Superior customer service, detail orientation, and communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, confidently and concisely in verbal and written formats to a wide variety of constituents. Ability to negotiate and advocate effectively and tactfully. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Demonstrated commitment to professional development for self.
Cornell experience with data management, grant applications and disbursement processes and/or gift funds management. Experience with KFS, OBIEE, Salesforce, Visual basic, SQL, and payroll systems would be of added value.
