KUOW Public Radio, a nonprofit corporation, is operated under an agreement with the University of Washington, the stations' licensee. The mission of KUOW is to create and serve an informed public that is challenged and invigorated by an understanding and appreciation of events, ideas, and cultures. To help in this mission KUOW has an outstanding opportunity for a Producer, Operations / IT to produce operational support for radio and digital media production and programming; provide computer technical support and staff training; provide operational support for radio and digital media production technology; provide operational support for other computer servers and systems.
KUOW is responsible for deploying and maintaining its own technical infrastructure. This position will assist in keeping broadcast and digital news and information services available to the public on a 24-hour basis.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides technical and production support to KUOW staff. Assists in deployment and maintenance of multiple server systems, radio and digital media production and delivery systems, and user workstations. Availability for occasional off-hours projects and emergency technical support.
Provides IT technical support to KUOW staff - Assists users and guests with computer hardware and software issues on enterprise, digital media, and broadcast software. Troubleshoots issues with digital audio recording, storage, and transmission on studio and user workstations and related systems. - 25%
Provides support for digital media production and programming - Assists reporters, producers, web staff and operations staff in producing live and recorded interview and performance sessions, including internal and remote audio routing and delivery. - 25%
Provides IT system administration assistance, including setup and maintenance of domain user accounts, Exchange mailboxes, and related system accounts. Monitoring and maintenance of computer backup and virus/malware protection systems. Monitoring and maintenance of a variety of database, file and application servers. - 25%
Deploys and configures computer hardware and software for workstations and servers. Works with users, department leaders, and vendors to schedule and execute rollouts and upgrades. - 15%
Assists KUOW operations team as needed - Provides needed networking hardware and configuration. Assists in hardware and cabling installation. - 10%
| Bachelor's degree |
Two or more years IT experience in a Windows-based networked office environment, including software and hardware deployment and configuration.
Two or more years experience producing digital audio.
Good interpersonal skills with a diverse workforce in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to respond quickly and calmly in potentially stressful situations.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
| Experience maintaining a Microsoft Windows Active Directory domain, including Microsoft Exchange Server, Hyper-V, file servers, backup systems. |
Experience with audio recording and production, including use of microphones, mixers, and digital editing software.
Knowledge of computer networking concepts and technology.
Ability to work independently to efficiently complete projects.
