| Company Overview:|
At Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK), we’re not only changing the way we treat cancer, but also the way the world thinks about it. By working together and pushing forward with innovation and discovery, we’re driving excellence and improving outcomes.
For the 27th year, MSK has been named a top hospital for cancer by U.S. News & World Report. We are proud to be on Becker’s Healthcare list as one of the 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare in 2016, as well as Glassdoor’s annual Employees’ Choice Awards 2016. We’re treating cancer, one patient at a time. Join us and make a difference every day.
The goal of this research program is to improve the biochemical understanding of cancer metabolism and use metabolic changes to develop imaging agents for diagnosis and treatment. The work is focused on novel approaches for hyperpolarized magnetic resonance (MR), a new technology that allows for creation of noninvasive MR contrast agents with dramatically increased signal intensity.
As a Research Technician, you will:
Assist Investigators and laboratory members in planning and carrying out research activities
Develop and characterize small molecules for hyperpolarized magnetic resonance
Perform experimental tests related to MRI studies by using cell culture, analysis of tissue specimens (e.g. immunoreactivity, HPLC, gene expression, proteomics, metabolomics, ELISA, electrophoresis, etc.)
Prepare of media related for all tissue culture. Handling and planning of animal studies for imaging and therapy studies
Create, edit, and modify spreadsheets to produce basic charts and databases by generating tables, queries, and building reports which incorporate data from internal/external sources as requested.
Assist researchers and laboratory staff in purchasing of equipment and materials for the laboratory
Bachelor’s degree Biological Sciences/Chemistry/Chemical Biology or Bioengineering
0-3 years of relevant industry experience, at least 6 months to 1 year experience with working with mouse models preferred
Masters Degree in a relevant field preferred
Experience with standard molecular biology, biochemistry and cell culture techniques as well as NMR, HPLC and Mass Spectroscopy preferred
