The Associate Provost/Deputy Provost for Academic Programs reports to the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs; serves as the Provost's chief advisor on academic programs, assessment and accreditation, student success and supports the University's mission and commitment to excellence in serving CSUSB students. The Deputy Provost serves as the Provost's representative in academic matters related to curriculum, the academic master plan and WASC accreditation.
The Deputy Provost is an active participant in the Dean's Council and Provost Cabinet. Responsibilities include oversight of academic program review, accreditation, undergraduate and graduate studies, and student success initiatives. In addition, the Deputy Provost plays a lead role in implementing Strategic Plan goals and objectives related to academic programming and offerings, academic initiatives, and special projects.
The Deputy Provost will typically represent the Provost in those cases when the Provost is unavailable. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse and urban student, faculty, and staff population. The position demands a record and reputation of personal and professional integrity and fairness. Flexibility and diplomacy are key factors in the daily exercise of authority.
The Deputy Provost will have a record of commitment to and success at promoting effective teamwork among the members of the University and larger community as well as supporting and encouraging a campus climate conducive to diversity and inclusive excellence and must have a demonstrated commitment to shared governance.
