Term Assistant or Associate Professor – Department of Information Sciences and Technology
The George Mason University Department of Information Sciences and Technology, within the Volgenau School of Engineering, invites applications for a full-time, term (nontenure-track), instructional faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, starting Fall 2017. Teaching will be primarily at the undergraduate level, with a possibility of teaching some graduate courses. Exceptionally strong senior candidates must have an established record of excellence in teaching to be considered for a Term Associate Professor position. The candidate will be responsible for:
Teaching courses in subjects that are part of the department's educational program;
Coordinating multiple sections of courses taught by adjunct faculty; and
Participating in student advising and performing other professional duties.
Candidates for this position must have an earned Ph.D. before the start date of the position, in an area appropriate to the position which includes one of: information technology, information systems, information sciences, computer science, or a related field.
Preferred qualifications include experience or ability to teach foundation and intermediate Java, C++ and Python programming courses.
Applicants should possess a strong commitment to and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Applicants for the position at the Associate Professor level should have significant experience. Applicants must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
