The Department of Environment and Molecular Toxicology is seeking a Departmental Administrator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.
The Department Administrator provides administrative assistance and
project management support to the Department Head. This position ensures that the departmental operations are managed efficiently so that its internal customers are provided with quality customer service.
This position is the primary liaison between the department and the university, College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS), and the Agricultural and Marine Sciences Business Center (AMBC); The Departmental Administrator supervises office staff and manages the overall internal operations in the department including but not limited to departmental budget and expenses, grant planning and submission, graduate program, tuition remissions, and graduate stipends, space and equipment inventory; departmental event planning; travel planning and reimbursements, and the faculty promotion and tenure processes.
The position supports the Department Head by engaging in strategic planning activities, managing award nominations, managing annual professorial evaluations, event coordination, scheduling meetings, producing (annual) reports/reviews, managing departmental budgets and expenses, and other projects as needed. It functions in an advisory as well as support capacity to the Department Head and Faculty for departmental operations and activities regarding OSU polices/procedures/guidelines, travel, communications, human resources transaction, business operations in cooperation with AMBC, Research Office and other entities and research partners, and other related matters.
Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):
Typically requires Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years' experience providing administrative support to an administrator
B.S/A degree plus two years of professional administrative experience.
Six years of progressively responsible professional level administrative and human resources management experience.
For OSU or OUS candidates, professional level experience is defined as primary responsibility for implementing policies, procedures, and practices and/or primary responsibility for providing administrative support at an advanced level.

Demonstrated regard for confidentiality, discretion and diplomacy.
Strong track record of positive attitude, customer service and/or program support.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and database applications.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OAR 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
