Under general supervision of the Director, the Coordinator of Peer Education Programs and Community Standards will facilitate training and education to student peer educators regarding health issues such as alcohol and other drug use, mental health, sexual violence, sexual health, healthy eating and exercise. The primary responsibility of the Coordinator will be to oversee the day-to-day operations, the training, and the facilitation of the peer education program. The secondary responsibilities of the position will be to serve as the Community Standards Coordinator and to participate as a member of the Sexual Assault Resource Coordinator (SARC) team for the campus. As the Community Standards Coordinator, the position will require facilitation of an alcohol intervention program focusing on health promotion, prevention efforts, decision-making skills, alternative strategies and coping mechanisms for university students involved with low-level alcohol-related incidents. This position requires flexibility in hours with nights and weekends required on a monthly basis with regard to peer education responsibilities and rotating on-call responsibilities as a member of the the SARC team.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of a full-scale peer education program. Duties will include recruitment, selection, training and supervision of on average 30 undergraduate volunteer peer educators and all relevant activities.
- Primary resource on campus for intervention and education of students who have low-level violations of the Universitys alcohol policies.
- Serve as one of the members of an on-call Sexual Assault Resource Coordinator team for any persons seeking support as a result of an incident of sexual violence.
- Serve as a facilitator for bystander intervention curriculum through the Office of Health Promotion.
- Conducts annual assessment of prevention and intervention activities to include; maintaining and compiling learning outcomes data; conducting trend analysis; and preparing portions of the annual report.
- Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.
- Masters Degree in health education/promotion, public health, nursing, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years experience working within a peer education program on a college campus. Minimum of 2 years experience in a health promotion program whereby competence in prevention and education specifically related to student issues was demonstrated.
- Working knowledge of:
- alcohol and other drugs, sexual violence, sexual health and other major health issues facing college students.
- alcohol abuse prevention and intervention theory and technique used to assist young adults with decision-making.
- sexual violence prevention and response used to assist young adults with decision-making.
- evidence-based and theory-based strategies and methods to improve the health of individual students and the campus community.
- Understanding of leadership skills and the principles of student development.
- Excellent public speaking skills to facilitate effective prevention within the University community.
- Excellent communication and active listening skills.
- Excellent program evaluation skills.
- Ability to work with college students and assist with the development of population-level prevention initiatives.
- Ability to critically review health-related professional literature relevant to college students and assess its applicability and utility for effectiveness on campus.
- Demonstrated competency in computer skills; knowledge of Windows environment is desirable.
- Willingness to learn when new tools become available.
- Certified Health Educator Specialist (CHES) eligibility or certification preferred.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
Health promotion programs are held off site (out of the office) which may require carrying of supplies of up to 25 pounds and standing for a 3-4 hour period of time. Additionally, this position may require extended periods of time off-campus in providing survivors of sexual violence with needed support as a member of the SARC team (e.g., at local hospitals, police station, etc.).
