The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) is looking for an experienced Database Manager to oversee the growth and use of its database systems. This position will discover efficient ways to organize, store and analyze data with attention to security and confidentiality. A great Database Manager will be able to fully grasp the complexity of data management and will have great attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of databases and data analysis procedures and will also be tech-savvy and possess excellent troubleshooting skills. This position is available beginning June 1st, 2017.
The CCCU has recently transitioned to iMIS 20 RiSE and we are looking for an energetic person with an analytical mind who is excited to be part of a collaborative and dynamic team supporting the international cause of Christian higher education. This individual will help us leverage iMIS RiSE functionality to support our organizational mission. Our iMIS environment includes integrated third party software products and website integration.
The goal is to ensure that information flows timely and securely to and from the organization, as well as, within.
The CCCU is a professional association of 180 campuses in 20 nations whose mission is to advance the cause of Christ-centered higher education and to help our member institutions transform lives by faithfully relating scholarship and service to biblical truth. The CCCU coordinates professional development opportunities for administrators and faculty, manages U.S. based and international off-campus student programs, provides public advocacy for Christ-centered higher education and manages cooperative efforts among its member campuses (www.cccu.org).
Help define strategic direction for the database in support of our organizational objectives and strategy.
Integrate our suite of database applications so that they work together and provide consistent and accurate data.
Work in tandem with Digital Marketing Manager on web and external facing projects
Ensure ongoing data integrity for all administrative and web databases including manage update cycles
Manage data projects and initiatives. Make sure that they go live on time, on budget and meet our stated objectives.
Consult with the non-technical staff to help get their jobs done more accurately, effectively and efficiently. Assist in redefining business processes using database automation tools.
Troubleshoot data-related problems experienced by internal staff and external constituents, track issues and keep stakeholders up-to-date.
Set-up and Configure Events and Conferences in iMIS Rise
Develop iMIS dashboards in RiSE, establish rules and procedures for data sharing with upper management, external stakeholders etc.
Be proficient in the use of IQA to support reporting and additional data needs in accordance with the goals and objectives of the organization
Ensure data redundancy in case of emergency or disaster.
Formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data for automated or manual repair, as appropriate.
Work with vendors to fix bugs and add enhancements. This could involve specification design and development oversight, as well as testing and integration with our systems.
Reporting and analysis, both routine and ad-hoc. Data extraction and importing.
Provide user assistance and training. Development of training materials, policies and procedure for effective data management.
Secondary Responsibilities (on an as needed basis):
Help desk assistance
Serve as point of contact in cases of system outages
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Persons applying for the position should:
Have a strong appreciation for the Christian mission and purpose of the CCCU and its BestSemester programs
Have an excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc.)
Possess a keen analytical mindset with problem-solving skills and excellent communication and collaboration skills
Be familiar with modern database and information system technologies
Be proficient in Cloud Computing with AWS
Be proficient in iMIS 20, including RiSE
Have the ability to communicate well with others, including writing skills and explain technical information to non-technical staff; and turn non-technical requests into technical specifications
Have experience with managing web services built on REST APIs or SOAP
Have experience with Microsoft SQL Server or other relational databases (SQL 2014 preferred)
Possess a strong customer service orientation with ability and desire to treat all clients with respect
Be proficient in MS Office (Excel, Access, Word etc.)
Have a BSc/BA in computer science or relevant field is a plus
