| Reporting to the Dean of the Humanities and in consultation with the Deputy Dean, Dean of Students and academic units, the Associate Director, Recruitment (ADR) has an overall responsibility to recruit talented and diverse graduate student applicants (PhD, MA, and MFA) who will embody the University's commitment to build and sustain a diverse and inclusive student body. The ADR establishes and implements short- and long-range divisional outreach, recruitment, and enrollment goals, objectives, and strategic plans; develops / implements an overarching recruitment plan; considers areas of study from incoming students as well as job placements to inform recruitment strategies; builds / cultivates collaborative relationships both on and off campus, addresses barriers to enrollment; provides expertise on the marketplace as related to graduate student recruitment; and develops metrics related to goals, objectives and strategic plans such as marketing efforts, incoming student demographics, etc.; will oversee a budget.- Develops / implements comprehensive strategies to attract high-quality, diverse graduate students in the thirteen PhD programs, the Master of Fine Arts Program, and three MA programs, which includes the Master of Arts Program in the Humanities (MAPH); keeps abreast of graduates job placement outcomes to inform recruitment programming.- In consultation with the Chairs and relevant faculty committees of the degree programs, understands strengths of each program; considers strengths of the faculty, job placement of students, and other factors which leverage the strengths of each program.- Manages graduate student recruitment and degree program marketing to increase and strengthen quality of applicant pool in a manner consistent with the Division's and University's mission. Will initially focus on MAPH to substantially increase enrollment.- Tracks data related to recruitment; assists the Dean of Students with data analysis that informs strategies related to target market development, leveraging for MA programs, and other management objectives.- Plans and attends recruiting trips and evaluates effectiveness of efforts; represents the Division at various functions related to recruiting graduate students and marketing the Division; maintains high visibility with the public. Engages faculty and alumni in the outreach and recruitment processes.- In consultation with the Division's Office of External Relations and in collaboration with the academic departments, develops program-specific marketing and communications strategies that are consistent with the Division's branding philosophy; assists with the design or modification of publicity material in print and electronic form for the Division as well as for individual degree programs; assesses market trends, deploys social media in recruitment; collaborates with the Research Specialist, the Office of External Relations, and divisional programs on web content related to recruitment strategies.- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with academic units and other relevant offices within the University; ensures that effective recruiting relationships with organizations and key individuals are maintained.- Establishes a dynamic interaction with applicants throughout the recruitment, admissions and yield processes; assists departmental and program staff with annual admitted student campus visits and other outreach and recruitment events.- Oversees and manages responses to applicant requests via email, in-person and by phone as needed; coordinates information sessions for prospective applicants and admitted students covering routine information about funding and graduate student support services. - Serves on committees per the request of the Dean.A review of applicants will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. |
