Job Posting: The Biomedical Imaging Research Institute's Imaging Core is seeking a highly motivated Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) to support its cutting edge research and clinical imaging program. Under general supervision, the NMT performs diagnostic clinical and research imaging procedures using a PET/MR scanner in the state-of-the-art Research Imaging Core facility, performs all related quality assurance/control procedures for the camera and hot lab, and follows guidelines as detailed in protocols while exercising best judgment and expertise. Essential Job Duties: - Performs routine and specialized duties related to PET imaging of patients and research subjects (human, canine, porcine). - Prepares, dispenses and administers radiopharmaceuticals and related materials in accordance with Cedars-Sinai's radioactive materials license and departmental policy and procedures. - Maintains accurate, comprehensive, and timely documentation of all activities. - Maintains equipment, supplies, and work area in accordance with departmental guidelines and expectations; includes minor troubleshooting. - Performs computer processing of acquired imaging procedures; demonstrates and maintains working knowledge of imaging processing and software/hardware components. - Performs IV placement and/or venipuncture, receives specimens, and accurately records amounts of radioactive material administered to patients/subjects. - Coordinates studies by retrieving and processing requisitions and data, reviews requests for pertinent information and obtains patient history. - Demonstrates ability to recognize serious health emergencies and responds with appropriate action, is aware of contraindications of testing. - Performs all required quality assurance and quality control procedures for the equipment and hot lab; monitors wipe tests and other safety requirements. - Follows radiation safety best practices and techniques and ensures day-to-day compliance with all radiation safety aspects; responsible for compliance and assisting with inspections. - Demonstrates professional maturity in all interactions with patients, research subjects, and staff. - Performs research duties (e.g., protocol planning/development, scanning, completing forms, informed consent, etc) according to good clinical practices (GCP), regulations, institutional policies, and IRB/HIPAA. - Additional job duties as needed. Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements: Graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine educational program approved by the American Medical Association and American College of Nuclear Physicians. License/Certification/Registration Requirements: - California certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology (CNMT) - BLS CPR certification required - Registration in Nuclear Medicine Technology by ARRT-N or NMTCB. Experience: Recent graduate from an accredited school. Preferred two (2) years experience with PET or PET/CT in an acute clinical setting preferred. Ability to demonstrate highly developed knowledge of general objectives in nuclear medicinemethodologies, equipment, radiopharmacy, radiation safety, human anatomy and physiology, computer skills and current experience in a hospital environment. Must be well-versed in all QC applications. Must have strong interpersonal, organizational and multi-tasking skills, and full command (verbal and written) of the English language. Physical Demands (e.g., lifting, standing, walking): Physical ability and perceptive acuity, to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care and essential job functions, including transporting patients and equipment. Frequent sitting and standing, occasional walking and bending; occasional lifting of materials up to forty (40) pounds for distances to ten (10) feet. Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communication devices; visual acuity including color differentiation. Sufficient mobility to access equipment and patients. Able to read papers and online documents. Must be "MR safe" and able to work in a ZONE IV MRI environment.
