About Virginia Tech:
Virginia Tech is a public land-grant university, committed to teaching and learning, research, and outreach to the Commonwealth of Virginia, the nation, and the world. Building on its motto of Ut Prosim (that I may serve), Virginia Tech is dedicated to InclusiveVT—serving in the spirit of community, diversity, and excellence. We seek candidates who adopt and practice the Principles of Community, which are fundamental to our on-going efforts to increase access and inclusion, and to create a community that nurtures learning and growth for all of its members. Virginia Tech actively seeks a broad spectrum of candidates to join our community in preparing leaders for the world.
The Mobile Journalist will work on daily assignments to develop story ideas, contact sources, shoot short videos, and take pictures for posting to the Virginia Tech News site, the Virginia Tech homepage, the university's official social media channels, and other platforms. Such assignments and tasks may occur concurrently, and will move from idea to finished piece within a few hours. The Mobile Journalist will also work across teams within University Relations to provide communications and marketing content for platforms that rely on a digital-first, create-once-publish-everywhere model. In addition, the Mobile Journalist will complete tasks that include posting site updates, editing copy, building pages, and scheduling email messages to audiences within the Virginia Tech community.
