The U.S. Financial Security Department's AML Business Analyst is responsible for assisting on the tuning and optimization of Actimize based AML monitoring models.
Responsibilities: Provide SME feedback on products used in broker dealer/Capital Markets, SWIFT messages, Checks, ACH etc.; and use the product knowledge to monitor activity for Anti Money Laundering.
Make recommendations to improve AML surveillance through the development of new risk models, model validation, statistical analysis of model thresholds, negative testing, and other sensitivity and productivity analyses
Work with the Coverage/Risk assessment, provide risks associated with products and identify appropriate models to cover the risks
Provide rationale and qualitative input to the threshold setting, Alert score setting and risk coverage and document them
Gather requirements from users, business line owners and identify red flags and risks associated with the line of business
Make recommendations to improve AML surveillance through the development of new risk models, model validation, statistical analysis of model thresholds, back testing, and other sensitivity and productivity analyses
Effectively communicate inherent model risks and limitations, develop methodologies that demonstrate and challenge assumptions within models, and evaluate metrics as a component of each validation
Rationalize and document business rules, thresholds, parameters and scoring methodology of the system.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (or beyond) with outstanding academic credentials
7 – 10 years of relevant industry experience, specifically in the AML Analytics space.
Performed Capital Markets/Broker-dealer Anti Money Laundering monitoring for a major bank
Experienced to improve a business process and present recommendations in a non-technical, business-friendly way for consideration by senior management
High level of computer literacy, including experience using statistical packages for research/modeling
Time management skills and ability to execute tasks within tight deadlines
Analytical, oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with colleagues
Must possess the ability to research and resolve issues independently while working across teams to acquire information
Preferred: Knowledge of/experience with Actimize or other surveillance model design preferable
Professional experience at a large financial institution and financial services data types
Self-motivated team player
Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with the skills to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment
Project management skills
