Purpose of Position:
To support our mission in regards to undergraduate instruction and advising.
Teaching – Teach undergraduate courses in exercise science, and advise undergraduates in the academic requirements and policies for students majoring in the exercise science concentration
Service – Meet service expectations of the department, school, university, community and profession.
Earned Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology or related field; teaching experience in higher education; competence in teaching undergraduate courses in content areas such as biomechanics, resistance training for health and human performance, exercise testing and prescription, clinical exercise physiology, and sport nutrition. Faculty member must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Doctoral Degree in Exercise Physiology or related field; record of teaching and service activities in higher education. American College of Sports Medicine Certification (Certified Exercise Physiologist or Clinical Exercise Physiologist) or National Strength and Conditioning Association Certification (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist). Experience advising undergraduate students, and directing undergraduate student research.
