Purpose of Position:
This position entails working with undergraduate, graduate, and professional students at VCU to address their psychological needs.
General duties include initial consultation assessment, individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, crisis work, trainee supervision, after hours on call, outreach, consultation with university faculty and staff. The position may require working at least one evening per week.
Doctorate degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology, MSW in Social Work or Master's in a related field. ABD in psychology also permitted with expectation of completed degree within one year of hire date. Completion of a supervised APA accredited internship or equivalent work experience in required. Evidence of strong theoretical base informing clinical practice in both group and individual therapy. The position also requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written, strong interpersonal skills, experience with brief psychotherapy and group therapy, evidence of multicultural competence and experience working with diverse populations, and licensed or license eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
