| Posting Summary: The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for two Program Coordinators with the Office of Diversity and Engagement. Program Coordinators will assist the Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion and Office of Diversity and Engagement (ODE) staff on key initiatives. The Program Coordinator will have four primary responsibilities. |
First, these positions will coordinate the Excellence Through Diversity Distinguished Learning Series, a program that has reached over 2,000 members of the UVa community halfway through its first year.
Second, the Program Coordinators will assist in the implementation of a pan-University Faculty Learning Series to operate in conjunction with the Diversity Series. This Learning Series will provide opportunities for faculty development and engagement with regard to speakers and topics of the Diversity Sieries, thereby creating a mechanism for institutional change and diversity innovation.
Third, these positions will work with the Director of Education and Outreach and the Assistant Director of the Center for Diversity in Engineering on all summer programs affiliated with ODE. This includes a pre-college program, programs for high school students exploring engineering, and research opportunities for undergraduate students.
Fourth, the Program Coordinators will help manage strategic internal, corporate, foundation, and federal agency partnerships. Coordination for these four components will involve all logistical components of the programs and events including outreach, travel, room reservation, payment, advertising, news and media coordination, and other associated responsibilities dictated by the specific program/event.
The Program Coordinators will also assist with special projects as assigned.
The successful candidates will have strong written, verbal and presentation skills, a background in events planning, ability to collaborate, excellent time/task management and organization skills, etc.
Bachelor's degree required.
Some evening and weekend work are required.
These positions will report to the Associate Dean of Diversity and Engagement of the School of Engineering and work closely with the Director of Education and Outreach.
