As part of the Analytics Consulting Team this position is responsible for: working with internal customers to define and prioritize business requirements; partner with development, application, and other analyst teams to design and implement analytics solutions; and provide an overall excellent customer experience. While all members of the Analytics Consulting Team are expected to develop a reasonable level of proficiency across the domains we support, this position will focus heavily on financial decision support systems and data, including support of the McKesson platform (McKesson Performance Analytics Financial Analyst and McKesson Performance Manager). A critical part of this work will be partnering with business and technical teams to ensure that features and services that are part of that platform are effectively implemented and supported.
This position will regularly work with end-users, management, and other analyst groups across UW Medicine to identify business problems and opportunities for process improvement, as well as supporting the overall quality of data. They will produce thorough analysis and detailed business and technical requirements documentation as necessary to support solution development. The Business Technology Analyst will work closely with programmers, application owners, data and solution architects to ensure that solutions meet customer needs and will strive to support the voice of the customer in all interactions. They will stay connected to the customer throughout the lifecycle of their request and makes sure all solutions undergo effective quality review and user acceptance testing. As needed the Business Technology Analyst will also assist in release documentation, user training, and on-going support.
As a member of the Analytics Consulting Team, the Business Technology Analyst will directly support the triage of incoming customer requests with other team members. They will work broadly across the Analytics Department to ensure effective work prioritization and make sure requests are assigned to the best possible resource. The Application Business Analyst will engage with other team members to drive process improvement both within the Analytics Consulting Team and the department as a whole. They will stay up-to-date on all department solutions and services and frequently demonstrate and educate customers on existing and new tools.

This position requires independent judgment and collaboration with both internal and external partners to proactively manage, analyze, report, and implement the Analytics programs, projects and tasks assigned. This role will work across cross-functional teams. This position will also require the ability to navigate complex levels of the UW Medicine environment in addition to working with managers and directors of UW Medicine entities. The incumbent is expected to perform analytical work requiring knowledge of administrative principles and analytical practices. The position will be provided access to restricted or confidential information including: employee and patient information, medical center strategic plans and initiatives, financial information (or other sensitive materials and information). The Business Technology Analyst will be required to maintain confidentiality and follow strict compliance and organizational guidelines.
The Analytics Department has a dual report into both ITS and UW School of Medicine and provides operational oversight for the major analytics platforms and tools at UW Medicine, and is a key support function as UW Medicine transitions towards value based health care. The Business Technology Analyst will collaborate effectively with colleagues and other departments at Harborview Medical Center, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, Valley Medical Center, UW Medical Center, UW Neighborhood Clinics, UW Physicians, UW School of Medicine, and UW Medicine ITS including other Project Managers, Technology Managers and Directors.
Requirements Gathering, Analysis, and Prioritization (30%)
Work with internal customers to define, analyze, and prioritize business and technical requirements
Create clear and concise documentation tailored to business and technical audiences
Match customer needs with existing solutions or identify opportunities for new development
Application Support (30%)
Partner with business and technical teams to ensure that features and services that are part of the McKesson Performance Analytics and McKesson Performance Manager platform are effectively implemented and supported
Perform periodic operational tasks to ingest, audit and publish encounter related data on the McKesson Performance Manager platform
Evaluate and help resolve data completeness, accuracy and quality issues identified by IT team and customers
Monitor and effectively respond to relevant requests through the service management platform
This may include periodic on call support outside of regular business hours
Solution & Analytics Development (15%)
Partner with development, application, and other analyst teams to design and implement analytics solutions
Encourage the adoption of enterprise best-practices for partnered developers
Process Improvement and Documentation (15%)
Engage with other team members to drive process improvement both within the Analytics Consulting Team and the department as a whole
Ensure that processes and solutions are effectively documented
Contribute relevant customer-facing content to departmental customer portal
Training and Support (10%)
Assist in release documentation, user training/engagement, and on-going support
| What you'll bring to the table: (minimum requirements) |
Bachelor's degree in usiness or Health Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Public Health or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.
3+ years experience must include the following:
3+ years' experience in a complex matrix organization involving the administration of finance and IT systems.
2+ years' experience with the collection and analysis of business requirements.
2+ years' experience producing detailed data analysis and visualization.
Applied practical knowledge of basic healthcare finance and accounting principles and terminology.
Demonstrated competency in standard administrative office applications: Microsoft Windows platform, Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word).
Familiarity with basic IT change control practices.

1+ year of direct project management experience.

Experience with standard healthcare data and code sets, particularly claims data.

Information Technology deadline-driven environment.
Primary location will be at the IBM building in downtown Seattle; with secondary location (not exclusively) at the UW Tower.
Interacts with a variety of individuals within UW Medicine and ITS specifically.
Must lead projects without direct supervisory authority.
Program operates within the confines of standard IT methodology - Design Review, IT Project Management, Change Control, Risk Assessment and Code Management.
Must work within the constraints of multiple technical environments.
The Analytics team services all UW Medicine organizations Harborview Medical Center, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, Valley Medical Center, UW Medical Center, UW Neighborhood Clinics, UW Physicians, UW School of Medicine and Airlift Northwest. Must learn many organizational structures and cultures and foster collaboration.
Available to work off-hours and weekends as needed.
